Kyle Weatherhead

President

Kyle played for the Nitehawks from 1996-2000. Kyle spent some time working in the Okanagan before moving to the Lower Mainland for the past eight years. He still keeps a strong connection to the Kootenays and tries to get back whenever he can. 

​

Currently, Kyle keeps busy coaching his kid’s hockey, baseball, and soccer and loves to go Ocean fishing when he can. He is excited to reconnect with alumni and help any Hawks that are struggling with the numerous challenges we face in life. 

Dwayne Bouliane

Vice President

Dwayne began his association with the Nitehawks as an affiliate player in the 1984-85 season and continued playing for another six years ending in 1991. Enjoying his time so much, he came back as an assistant coach for the 1995-96 season. Dwayne graduated from University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Physical Education degree, and a diploma in Computer Information Systems from Selkirk College. Currently, he works as an operator at Teck.

Dwayne on why the Nitehawks Alumni Association (NAA) is important to him, “I wanted to be part of the Alumni Association so I could reconnect with my past as well as support the Nitehawks family in any way possible. I am here and I am listening!”

Terry Jones

Secretary

Terry has been a part of the Nitehawks since 1996. During this time as Head Coach or General Manager he has led the team to eight KIJHL championships and over 1000 wins. 

​

He played for the Portland Winterhawks and won a Memorial Cup in 1983, then moved onto to play for the University of Calgary Dinos. Currently, he lives in Montrose and is Principal at Glenmerry Elementary School. Terry believes the NAA can be a valued organization that is devoted to helping players and the community in any way possible. 

Mike Morissette

Treasurer

Mike played goaltender for the Nitehawks from 1996-2000. He’s also been working as an Assistant Coach with the team since 2006. 

Currently he lives in Fruitvale and teaches math and physics at J.L. Crowe Secondary School. Mike is excited to be working as the treasurer for the NAA and is looking forward to this group helping current and recently graduated players move onto the next stage of their lives. Whether it be the next level of hockey or achieving their career aspirations.

Connor Jones

Director

Son of Terry, Connor grew up in Montrose. He was around the team since he was five years old and then played for the team in 2006. He moved on to the BCHL’s Vernon Vipers from 2007-2010, then attended Quinnipiac University where he graduated with a Master’s degree in Journalism in 2014. 

​

Currently, he lives in New York City with his wife Stephanie, and is his heading into his eighth professional hockey season. Connor believes that culture, and the great players and people involved within the organization have been an integral part of the Nitehawk success. He’s excited to help current and past players connect and help each other in any way they can. 

Jake Morissette

Director

Jake played three seasons with the Nitehawks from 1999-2002. He played four years NCAA hockey with RPI, and has played in the USA, Denmark, France, Germany, and the UK. 

Jake retired from pro hockey in 2019, and now lives in Cardiff, Wales with his wife Vicky and dog Maple. He now works as an Actuary, and is excited to be part of the NAA as it helps him stay connected with his old teammates, and lets him lend a hand to current players, too.

Archie McKinnon 

Director

Archie played for the BV Nitehawks from 2011-2014. He was Captain his last two seasons and led the team to their only Keystone Cup Championship. 

Currently he lives in Penticton and teaches PE and Math at Princess Margaret Secondary School. 

​

On why the NAA is important to him, “I wanted to join the alumni association because of the experiences and friendships I gained from my time as a Nitehawk.” He adds, “I was lucky to be a part of this organization and it really changed my life. The NAA gives me a chance to reconnect with former brothers and help past and present players be successful in their endeavors.”

Morgan Peace

Director

Morgan was a Nitehawk from 2017-2020, and captained the team for his last two seasons. After his time with the Nitehawks came to an end, he started a power lineman apprenticeship in Grande Prairie and just completed his first year at NAIT. 


On joining the NAA, “It gave me a sense of gratitude that I can still be a part of the Nitehawk community that has done so much for me. The opportunity to give back is very important to me and by being a part of the NAA I can do just that.”

Chris Derochie

Director

Chris grew up in Rossland and played his minor hockey in Trail. He then played three seasons with the Nitehawks from 2009-2012. Currently, he lives in Rossland and is an account manager for an enterprise discussion management software company.

 

On why he got involved with the NAA, “I want to play my part and contribute to the continuation of this incredible Nitehawk community and brotherhood. I see it as an opportunity to reconnect/stay connected with former teammates and help them out in any way I can.” 

Kellen Jones

Director

Kellen grew up in Montrose, the older twin brother of Connor and son of Terry. He played with the Nitehawks from 2005-2006 then headed to Vernon to suit up for the BCHL’s Vipers for three seasons. 

​

After junior hockey, Kellen attended Quinnipiac University and received his MBA and an undergrad degree in Finance. Currently, he lives in the Boston area with his wife Gina. He believes that like the entire Nitehawk organization, the NAA will be an important and valued part of the Beaver Valley community.

Ross Simnor

Director

Ross played on the 2000-2001 team that won the Cyclone Taylor Championship against the host team the Campbell River Storm (Ross’s hometown). He holds a single season record of 305 penalty minutes, and says he’s still quite proud of that one!

​

One of the all time most competitive Nitehawks, Ross now resides in Toronto with his family.  His wife Brittani is from Fruitvale and they have two young daughters. He currently teaches P.E. and is the Athletic Director at Central Toronto Academy.

 

On why the NAA is important to him, “I only played a year in BV but it really changed the trajectory of my life, I learned a lot about character development and I met some amazing friends who impacted my life greatly.”

Josh Wiest

Director

Josh played three years in BV from 2006-2009 where he enjoyed every minute. The community is still close to his heart as he continues to have great friendships with his billets, the Simisters, and his local teammates as well. 

​

After his time as a Nitehawk, he played Senior “A” for six years for the Lomond Lakers. Currently, he is farming and ranching in Enchant, Alberta, where I was born and raised with my father. He married his wife Jenna in 2012, and have three kids. Jackson, Mckinley, and Rowyn who Josh enjoys coaching in hockey and baseball.
